About conference
Following the successful conclusion of the 16th congress, themed "Towards Interdisciplinary Approaches in Identifying and Addressing Addiction," the groundwork for the 17th congress was immediately laid. The 16th congress, chaired by Dr. Mohammad Taqi Joghtaei, with Dr. Reza Daneshmand serving as the scientific secretary, Mr. Behrouz Meshkini Tehrani as the executive secretary, and Dr. Noushin Ahmadi-Rad, took place on September 20-22, 2023, at the Razi International Conference Center of the Iran University of Medical Sciences.
The preparations for the 17th congress commenced under the continued leadership of Dr. Mohammad Taqi Joghtaei, with Dr. Seyed Ramin Radfar stepping in as the new scientific secretary, Dr.Reza Daneshmand transitioning to the role of executive secretary, and Dr. Mohammad Reza Shalbafan joining as the CME secretary. The 17th congress is guided by the theme "In Search of New Solutions for an Old Challenge," reflecting a commitment to innovation and differentiation from past events.
Proudly, the 17th congress not only sustains the innovative spirit of the 16th congress, which saw the inauguration of the Dr. Razzaghi Award and the introduction of grants for young participants, but also expands its support for the addiction field by offering grants for thesis and dissertations related to substance use disorders and behavioural addictions. This initiative aims to foster student and assistant involvement in addiction research and treatment.
We firmly believe in nurturing the field of addiction research and intervention in our country by engaging young talent from diverse disciplines. The 17th congress represents a significant platform for sharing the latest scientific discoveries and achievements among all stakeholders, including policymakers, officials from governmental and non-governmental organizations, academics, researchers, students, therapists, and self-help groups. We are open to and welcome suggestions from all individuals dedicated to enhancing knowledge and optimizing addiction interventions nationwide.
